AI Bots Help - A Forum Thread for Halo: Combat Evolved

Assuming you meant Halo: Combat Evolved (Halo 2 isn't given the Combat Evolved subtitle), I'm pretty sure they were playing on a custom map that was made for Halo: Custom Edition. The original Halo 1 for PC doesn't have the ability to support AI bots naturally on its own for multiplayer maps; on the other hand, Halo: Custom Edition CAN support AI bots on the maps. Unfortunately, the AI bots must be included in the map when you go to compile it (you can't simply add them in from a menu), and the game doesn't exactly sync the bots properly with everyone in the server (assuming you play with others as well). For the original Halo: Combat Evolved, you can't; that version of the game doesn't support AI bots in the multiplayer maps. There are a few mods out there that add AI bots into Blood Gulch and that one Forerunner bridge map (I can't remember the name, I think it was Gephy-something), but using those mods usually kills any possible chance of playing online for that particular map (example: using a modded Blood Gulch map will restrict you from playing on servers that constantly run Blood Gulch) Halo: Custom Edition, on the other hand, does support AI bots in multiplayer maps. However, the bots themselves have to already be included in the map itself in order to even have the ability to play with them. You can't simply add them yourself through some sort of menu; unless you download a map that someone else made and put it into your 'maps' folder for the Halo: Custom Edition install directory, you'd have to use the HEK (Halo Editing Kit) and the HEK+ tools to either make a map from scratch or modify an existing one before compiling the map so that it can actually be played with AI bots. You can find a decent selection of maps that have AI bots included in them over at halomaps.org, but most of them have to be played solo and are insanely difficult, or they are specifically made to replace the main campaign maps for the game. However, Halo: Custom Edition is free and able to be downloaded from the same site I mentioned earlier.
